VIEW is extending an invite to LGBTQIA+ folks to share their stories at our event on September 26, 2020 AT 5:00 PM. We are hoping this can be outdoors at Maple Street Park.
Your story can be funny, happy, sad, or angry. The goal however is to empower and not add trauma to what can be a heavy existence as a queer person.
Do you have a story to tell about the first time you knew you were not straight or cisgender? Do you want to tell us about coming out? Want to talk about the importance of pronouns? What was your first real affirmation from friends or family members? What is/was school like? What do you wish you could tell your younger self?
If you are willing and ready to share a bit of yourself with your community, we would love to hear from you. You can read an essay or poem you wrote. Tell a story. Or perform a short stand-up act. Each participant should plan on being on “stage” for 5-10 minutes.
VIEW would like to offer participants $50 each as a thank you and recognition of their work and willingness to share their story.
